Takoma Park MTB is a middle school and high school mountain bike racing team within the Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League. The Maryland league is part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) . Athletes can register from any of the surrounding municipalities including the District of Columbia if they will be in grades 6 - 12 for the 2024 - 2025 school year. Our season starts with weekend rides on July 9, weekday practices once school opens in late August, and races from early September to early November.
Athletes are encouraged, but not required, to compete in the race series. The league offers noncompetitive activities in addition to the race series. Our team and league is all about getting kids on bikes.
Everyone belongs and is included. There are no try-outs, everyone on the team rides, and every racer who finishes a race earns points for the team.
Through goal setting and commitment, student athletes practice persistence and perseverance, while building confidence and a positive sense of self.
Evidence based coaching and training set the stage for the development of mountain biking skills and life-long fitness habits.
Student athletes work hard, play fair, and demonstrate respect for themselves and others. Please review the Trail Riding Code of Conduct.

We are part of the Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League (MICL). Teams from across the state compete against each other at four league races in the fall. The team is for the student athletes, but parents/guardians are welcome to ride with us and learn together. Want to learn more? Check out the Maryland Interscholastic CyclingLeague.
